Visual Arts- Term 3

Dear parents/caregivers,

In Visual Arts this term 3 your child will be exploring safety messages portrayed in logos.  They will learn what slogans are and how they are effective in getting an audience’s attention.  In Week 4 we would love you to send your child to school with a t-shirt that has an image or slogan on it.  We will be looking at the messages these convey.

During the term the teachers will demonstrate how to create a computer generated slogan and will teach your child how to change font, font size and colour and how to type into a shape.  If you have access to a computer at home, your child will be asked to continue exploring these skills at home with you.

Once our logo has been designed we will be screen printing them onto t-shirts.  We would kindly ask if you could send along a used child-sized t-shirt to school by beginning of week 6 that your child can print on.

Regards,

Samantha Scarlett

Help- play dough recipe needed

Hi Parents/Caregivers,

I have had 4 attempts at making play dough for Room 14 with 2 separate recipes and this is the result after a few days. Does anyone have a recipe that lasts for longer than a couple of weeks which means I can keep it in a container in the classroom? It would be much appreciated.

Thanks :)

Road Safety with Constable Carl

Today we had Constable Carl and 2 of our senior children come and talk to us about how to cross the road using the pedestrian crossing with our school patrollers. We went up to the crossing on Arahoe Road and watched what the road patrollers do and took turns with Constable Carl to cross the road safely.
