Fractions

Today group 5 practised splitting numbers into fractions! They had 12 counters and had to split the pile into 1/3 (a third) They already knew that the 3 in 1/3 means 3 piles so they split the beans into 3 piles and found there were 4 beans in each! Aren't they clever!!

Swimming is back - Mondays and Thursdays

Today we used 2 lanes of the pool to  practise kicking and floating! The water was really warm! We will be swimming again on Thursday with Room 18 so please remember to bring your togs!

Secrets and Tricks

Today as part of our Keeping Ourselves Safe programme we watched a few skits about good secrets and bad secrets.  We had to decide if the scenario was a good secret like a surprise for mothers day or a bad secret like using matched without an adult.

Coming home with us today is a homework activity. Please read this and act out some of the scenarios together as a family.

*We talked about how the children in the videos were acting and that it was all pretend. Room 14 found it hard to understand that the skits were made up and the children were pretending so if you have any questions or quarries please come and see Mrs Moorhouse.

Dance invites

Today we coloured in our invites for our dance performance! We hope you can all come! 

We also practised our dance and some of us learnt the second part of our dance with Miss Bland.

Today in Writing Arlo and Jireh used open mouths and talk sticks to make the letter d! They told each other they had done a wonderful job. 

I am proud of ...

Yesterday we talked about what we were proud of this term. We made a very big Brianstorm of all the things in Reading, Writing, Topic and Maths we might be proud of. Mrs Moorhouse took photos of what we were proud of for our Topic Report that is going home at the end of term. 

No swimming

No swimming again tomorrow. The middle syndicate will be continuing to use the pool for all swimming slots this week.

Gluing, sticking, pasting, creating!

Today we got out the glue guns, sparkles and our bags of treasures to make our Assembledge Art. First we glued our boxes then, 3 items at a time we glued on our treasures! Come in and have a look. They look GREAT!

Who is that in the teachers chair?

Today we were very lucky to have Miss Brown read us a story. We like how she reads with an exciting voice! 

Dance

This term we are working with Room 21 to create a dance for the end of term performance. Today we learnt the first part of our dance. 

Our school Powhiri

Today we welcomed our new students and teachers including our very own Max and Te Ariki. First we watched a video of another Powhiri in 2012, just so we knew what would happen. We did a very good job at sitting, listening and singing at the right time. 

Apple TV

In Room 14 we have started using Apple TV! Today we played a game and could pass the iPad around and each take turns while watching everything that was happening in the TV screen. 

Feelings

Today in "keeping ourselves safe" we talked about feelings. We listened to scenarios that might make us feel; sad, confused, happy, angry,l and proud. We used our bodies to show how we might feel. Thumbs up was happy, thumbs down was sad, hands in our hips was angry. Then we found the words in a word find! 

Help needed this Thursday Morning

This Thursday morning we are putting together our Assemblage Art. We will be using hot glue guns and blue tack but need some extra sets of hands.

iPads in Maths

Today in Maths group 1 used the 'show me' app on the  iPads to practiced writing and saying numbers and matching them to objects. 

Painting up a storm!

Today we painted the final part of our assembledge Artwork. Our next step is to  out it all together with hot glue guns! We will require parent help for this as we have so many treasures to glue on!! This coming THURSDAY we plan to put it all together so if you can help please contact Mrs Moorhouse by email or in person! 

No swimming

No swimming Monday as Ara Pakeke have a swimming school coming into teach them all week. Just like we used their swimming slots for our swimming coaching earlier this term, they will be taking our swimming slots.

Green Day!

Today's PSG fundraiser, Green Day was great fun! We even won a prize for all having our hats! We won and ice block each! Yum! We also had our buddy class visit. We read them stories and they read us stories!
